Credits as DIRECTOR
Melanie has staged productions at Hampstead Theatre, Southwark Playhouse and York Festival of Ideas, as well as multiple developmental readings or in-progress sharings with Channel 4, HighTide, Royal & Derngate, Tamasha, Old Vic and more. She has directed several productions and workshops as a visiting creative at RWCMD, Oxford School of Drama and Mountview. She is proud to have cast and directed notable British female talent such as Pearl Mackie, Charlotte Spencer, Jo Vanderham, Margaret Clunie and Nicole Lecky early in their careers.
As staff and associate director, Melanie has worked on shows for the National Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Headlong, HighTide, Gate Theatre, Nuffield (Southampton) and the Lyric Hammersmith. In this capacity, she has supported the process of leading directors, such as Marianne Elliott and Jeremy Herrin, and playwrights including Sam Holcroft, Brandon Jacobs Jenkins, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Dominique Morrisseau, a MacArthur Fellow. As an associate, she has supported the performances of prominent British talent on stage, including Meera Syal, Stephen Mangan and Miles Jupp. As casting director to Simon Amstell, she coordinated a British case of household names and upcoming talent, including Mawaan Rizwan, Alex Sawyer, Eileen Atkins, Joanna Lumley, Martin Freeman, Gemma Jones and Linda Bassett.
Melanie has led several international arts projects with a biomedical slant in collaboration with Wellcome Trust, investigating athlete optimisation (Australia) and oncology trials (New York / Boston). Melanie was selected for the National Theatre Studio’s Director’s Course and holds an MA with Distinction in Text and Performance from RADA. Her debut short film, Fudgeloaf, was longlisted for the inaugural Netflix Documentary Talent award.
